ZIRCON

Zircon has been known since antiquity, under various names.Today’s name is most likely derived from the Persian language ,means “golden colored”.Because of its high refractive index and strong dispersion, it has great brilliance and intensive fire.
Although blue zircon is a reasonably hard gem, with a Mohs hardness of about 7 to 7.5.
An old term for yellow, yellow-red to red-brown zircon is Hyacinth.
The blue zircon variety is also known as Starlight in the Trade .
The blue color is improved by heating on low temperature , that beautiful blue color is irreversible.
The majority of blue zircons are found in Cambodia
Other zircon deposits are in Burma (Myanmar),Sri Lanka,Madagascar and Tanzania.
Zircon is the birthstone of December.
